Bjørk i Skumring…

I´ve finished all 4 of my “Mostly Purled” projects from this summer! I´ve shown “Cashmere Summer Top” and “Fog&Whisper” on this blog earlier. Now I´m presenting “Bjørk i Skumring“!

Yarn: Mirasol, Sulky Legato, lace weight
Color: Birch Bark + Twilight (100 grams of each color)
Needles: 3,5 mm
Pattern: My own
Technique: Top-down, short-row shaped shoulders, Boxy, 3/4 sleeves, v-neck

It weighs 205 grams. The v-neck edging is done in i-cord using a small amount of Tynn Alpakka in col. coal, from Du Store Alpakka. The tight 3/4 sleeves are knit by picking up stitches from the body. The yarn is great! Love the colors!
Thanks to my lovely model H!

I´ve yet to present the last of my mostly purled projects: the baseball sweater… I´ve just got to wash it first, due to a LOT of wearing …always a good sign…

Toppsamling II…

Toppsamling II

Toppsamling II

Vertices Unite translated into Norwegian becomes something like Toppsamling. I´ve just finished my second one, and I think I´m going to leave it with that, though I find myself dreaming of even more great Vertices Unite shawls in hundreds of different color-variations… Enough shawls for a while…

I dug into my “precious-stash” for this one, -you know, the stash you often think of using and then decide against it for no obvious reason other than that it is a bit precious… And so the years passes…

I finally got to spend some of my Mari from Telespinn, got to throw in some left-over alpaca/silk (in Bitter Bug and Moody) from Old Maiden Aunt and even squeezed in a bit of Shilasdair Luxury 4 ply in Tansy Gold / yellow. I love yellow, but it´s a difficult color to be used with care… this shawl was perfect for it.

Mari from Telespinn ( see my last post) is a wonderful rustic mohair/merino grown and spun in Telemark/Norway. It´s listed in Ravelry as a light fingering yarn, but in my opinion it´s more like a fingering/sport weight… I have to add that my Mari has been in my stash for years, and the yarn may have been changed since I purchased it…

The Vertices Unite pattern comes in two sizes: Small and Large. I´ve adapted the pattern to a Medium. See my Toppsamling II ravelry project page for the details. My shawl measures 190 x 60 cm, and weighs 248 grams.

My fog & whisper cardigan is almost finished, and I aim to finish it by this weekend, and then I can go back to my last purling project; the raglan baseball sweater…

Gerda´s IV is progressing…

I love everything about this project! The colors, the smoothness of the yarn and the way it just flies off the needles. Though it´s knit on needles number 3 mm ( US 2 1/2) the gauge is 22 st(s) to 10 cm.

The body is done and the arms are on their way. I did the steeking and button-bands before I started on the arms, – I just left the cutting part… Knitting the arms produces a lot of friction to the knitted fabric, so I´m postponing the most thrilling part of the process! I did the reinforcing using Holst Supersoft in the color Topaz.

All I have to do while finishing this is deciding on buttons …and dreaming of my next project. Not that I haven´t got any waiting, but I could squeeze another project in-between… right?

Well I´m dreaming of “Laneway” by Veera Välimäki, in a pullover length, like in this ravelry project by memia. Maybe I´ll finally get to use a most treasured yarn, you know the yarn you keep brewing in the shelves awaiting the perfect project. And the longer you wait, the harder it is to start using it! Well, I´ve decided it´s overdue, and I´ll finally use my lovely Silky Merino from Walk Collection in the color Volcanic Sand. I´ve got 400 g, more than enough for this project. I want to add a few stripes, but can´t decide if I should go with baaramewe´s Titus (natural) or Drops Alpaca in gray… Something to think about while I´m  knitting!

I´ve also got 2 skeins of Suave DK, in the color Ebony, from Walk Collection, and I´m thinking of a “The Lonely Tree Shawl” by Sylvia Bo Bilvia. I´ve knit this before in Du Store Alpakka – Tynn Alpakka, my ravelry project here.

This cardigan is knit top-down in sport-weight alpaca/silk yarn from Old Maiden Aunt. The body is knit in the round by picking up stitches around the pre-knitted saddle, while you increase stitches to create the arms (my version of the contiguous-method, developed by SusieM). The cardigan has a fitted shape, and it´s most characteristic feature is the shoulder-saddle. It has a slight positive ease around the shoulders/upper arms, and no ease around bust/waist, with flattering pleats on the hips. The cardigan is knit in the round and later steeked. The pattern gives detailed instructions on steeking/reinforcing. The pattern also includes instructions for a flat version. Don´t be fooled by this cardigan´s casual look! The yarn adds drape and a luxurious subtle shine, and though the pattern construction itself is easy, certain parts of the pattern instruction calls for a reasonably experienced knitter. This cardigan will prove to be an essential garment in any wardrobe!
